BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL COMES TO BLACK FOREST

Colorado Springs, CO, July 18, 2008 — On Saturday August 9th, La Foret Conference & Retreat Center, 6145 Shoup Road, Black Forest, will be hosting a bluegrass music festival entitled Bluegrass In The Pines.
"Bluegrass music is a staff favorite and seems a natural fit for La Foret because of our rustic setting and our historic tradition of supporting the arts" explains Ralph Townsend, Executive director of La Foret.

Bluegrass in the Pines will feature local favorites Acme Bluegrass, The Ackermans and Grass It Up. Headlining the show will be national artistsPete Wernick and Flexigrass. Wernick was founder of the very popular bluegrass band Hot Rize.

Gates open at 1pm for this family friendly show and the music will be performed from 2 to 7pm. Admission is just $10 per carload. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, kites, balls Frisbee’s and (because the swimming pool is open), bathing suits.

Jeff Bieri, Program Director at KRCC says "There's always been an audience for Americana and Bluegrass here at KRCC. Along with the recent addition of the "Grass Roots Revival" show with Steve Harris on Wednesday evenings, we're very happy to introduce the community to the beautiful facilities at historic La Foret with what we hope will be the first of many "Bluegrass in the Pines" concerts. Many of the events we've produced here in Colorado Springs have only been possible through creative teamwork with businesses and non-prodits like Bristol Brewing, A Music Co. Inc., and La Foret - I can see no better building blocks to help build community!"

There will be food and drink for sale. Attendees are asked not to bring coolers or pets for this function.

Bluegrass In The Pines is being sponsored by KRCC, Bristol Brewing, Colorado Springs Independent, Bee Vradenburg Foundation and A Music Company Inc.

“The setting for Bluegrass in the Pines is just magnificent” explains Amy Whitesell, of A Music Company Inc. “And with the admission being kept at just $10 per carload for this family friendly event, I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer day in Colorado.”
