One of the latest rankings for Colorado Springs highlights the city as among the thinnest nationwide of large metropolitan areas.

The study ranked Colorado Springs among the top ten least obese metro areas in the country. Denver followed right behind.

The rankings don't surprise Joan Brucha, who manages a healthy living campaign at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, but she adds that the state still has some work to do.

"Colorado, like the rest of the U.S., really has experienced an upward trend in adult obesity since the early 2000's," says Brucha. "So although it's a good news story when we still have low rates, we're trending in the same way as other states and we can't rest on our laurels for that."

The study took into account a variety of factors, including the number of overweight and obese adults and children, as well as the percentage of adults eating less than one serving of fruits or vegetables per day.

The ratings come from WalletHub, a personal finance website.

The Memphis area topped the list as the most obese city. Honolulu ranked the thinnest.
