Sera Cahoone grew up in Colorado, but has called Seattle home for the better part of two decades. She made a name for herself as a drummer in the band, Band of Horses, and then turned to her own solo career, releasing several albums, including two on Seattle-based Sub Pop records.

After a five year break, Cahoone released her most recent album, From Where I Started, in March. The album is a richly layered indie-folk confection, full of personal songs of love, loss, and longing.

"It definitely is one of my most personal records I think that I've done," Cahoone told 91.5 KRCC's Vicky Gregor during a recent interview. "It took me five years to have a new record, so there's a lot of ups and downs that happen in that period of time."

Cahoone stopped by the 91.5 KRCC studios while on tour through Colorado, and was kind enough to play a few songs and talk with Vicky Gregor for this month's episode of Air Check.
