A recently released survey shows community members in the Pikes Peak region have few concerns about living near military installations.

Nearly 700 community members shared feedback through the online survey from the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments. Though the majority of the respondents think the community and military work well together, study program manager Brian Potts says they also identified [.pdf] concerns about stormwater, noise, and traffic, among other things.

"Currently there are a lot of things that are working well, and better than they have in the past," he said. "However, everyone acknowledges that there is room for improvement on a number of factors."

Potts says this was not a scientific survey, but is an early step in a more in-depth exploration of the relationship between communities and the military.

He says the end result of the larger study will be an extensive document with more analysis and ideas for possible improvements.
