- Pueblo County Commissioner Sal Pace is proposing a new tax on marijuana that would go toward college scholarships. The measure calls for a five percent excise tax on recreational marijuana grows in the county. 50% of generated revenue would go toward scholarships for Pueblo high school graduates to attend public college or university in the county. The rest of the funds would go toward school, parks, and other community projects. Pueblo County Commissioners plan to vote on Monday on whether or not to put the proposal on November's ballot.
- After millions of gallons of toxic mine waste flowed into a river in Colorado earlier this month, the Environmental Protection Agency launched an internal investigation. The report recommends ways to prevent future spills.... Meanwhile, Colorado's Attorney General Cynthia Coffman is criticizing the investigation, saying an independent review is necessary and that the new report raises as many questions as answers.
