Event Description

Join the Discovery Center as we learn what it takes to "Build!" a Martian habitat for our 2019 Summer of Discovery program and exhibit. "Build!" explores what it would take to live on Mars by tinkering, building, and experimenting. Learn about 3D printing, living in small spaces, space age materials, and how we can apply space technology to houses of the future. Come explore this hands-on exhibit and learn about life in space and here on Earth. Have fun participating in hands-on activities, with special presentations and workshops on Saturday for the entire summer. The learning labs will be open on Saturdays and only open weekdays according to availability. Summer of Discovery runs Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 am-4:00 pm, June 1-August 3. June 1, June 8, June 22, July 6, July 20, August 3 Create your own artistic representation of living on Mars in postcard form! Share with others your adventures at the Discovery Center when you build a postcard collage to send to friends, family, relatives, a pen pal or all of them. Gather inspiration from the Space Foundation Discovery Center and the Summer of Discovery "Build!" exhibit for your creative enterprise. All ages are welcome! Materials to create your postcard are free with admission. You can purchase a postcard stamp, $0.35 cents (national) or $1.15 (international) each in the Discovery Center Store for us to mail your final creation(s)! Create several postcards throughout the summer to add to our art wall. Door prizes for the month of June, July and August. Enter to win!
