Colorado Orders More Than $46 Million In Medical Supplies

The Colorado Unified Command Group has ordered more than $46 million worth of medical supplies to help meet needs from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group has been working with local, national and international vendors to place the orders, which consist of personal protective equipment like masks and gloves, as well as ventilators and respirators.

"These are extraordinary efforts in place to effectively deal with a lack of national strategy for the disrupted supply chain that is making it near impossible for acquiring the needed supplies to effectively manage the health crisis," said Scott Bookman, the Colorado Department of Health and Environment's COVID-19 incident commander in a press release.

The agency will test the materials upon receipt and withhold payment until the equipment and gear is verified. Once verified, the resources will be distributed throughout the state.

Additionally, the state health department says FEMA has awarded $16.7 million in funds for the purchase of medical supplies, and has sent Colorado 100 ventilators.
