  • Around 200 people attended a forum last night in Colorado Springs aimed at civilian oversight of the city's police department. The forum comes after the fatal shooting of 19-year-old De'Von Bailey by police in August. A grand jury eventually cleared the officers of any possible wrongdoing. Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski was on the panel. After the forum he said that he's open to dialogue, but has concerns about expanded community oversight...
     
  • President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Colorado Springs later this month. The rally will be Thursday, Feb. 20 at The Broadmoor World Arena. The venue holds about 8,500 people. According to The Gazette, U.S. Senator Cory Gardner plans to appear with the president. Gardner's Colorado Senate seat is considered to be one of the most vulnerable in the upcoming election. In a release from Trump's campaign, Colorado's favorable economy and low unemployment rate were mentioned as results of his presidency. In 2016, Democrat Hillary Clinton took Colorado with 48% of the vote. The state also took a sharp turn to the left in the 2018 midterms.
