David Amster-Olszewski, a 2009 graduate of Colorado College, has been named to Forbes magazine's 2016 list of "30 Under 30" for his work in the energy sector.  Amster-Olszewski, 28, founded his company SunShare in Colorado Springs, with a community solar garden at Venetucci Farm

Forbes calls SunShare "one of the nation's leading developers of community solar, in which communities chip in the cost of building a solar installation on underutilized land, then share in the power generated."

Amster-Olszlewski spoke on the topic of innovation as part of a round-table discussion with KRCC in 2012, saying, "Innovation is thinking outside of the box, and then having the persistence to bring the ideas that you found outside of the box into the reality that we all live in, and making those changes happen."

SunShare is currently headquartered in Denver, with solar gardens in Colorado and Minnesota.

Colorado College is KRCC's licensee.
