  • Corrections officials are investigating after an inmate was killed at a prison in Ordway.  Laurie Kilpatrick, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections, says an inmate was killed either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning at the all-male Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility. A fellow inmate is suspected in the death. Corrections officials and the district attorney's office are investigating the death.

  • The head of the New Mexico Environment Department is blasting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, saying federal officials are downplaying the long-term effects of a spill of contaminated water from a Colorado mine. New Mexico Environment Secretary Ryan Flynn says his agency plans to monitor water quality for one year to ensure it is safe.
